James Petigru Lesesne letterpress copybook, 1880-1892.

Volume chiefly contains letterpress tissue copies of legal documents filed in the courts of common pleas and probate, including abstracts of title for properties in Charleston (S.C.) and Colleton County (S.C.), petitions, complaints, case statements, and other documents; in addition, there are copies of correspondence and accounts. Included is a letter (1883) from Lesesne to the Ways and Means Committee of the Charleston City Council in support of a petition by Henry Augustus Middleton; documents (1887) pertaining to a disputed land claim by the South Carolina Jockey Club; and a letter (1887) from Olney Harleston regarding a mortgage on Bossis Plantation. Includes a name index.
